From Idioms to Education

“Bite off more than you can chew”

Guilty as charged!!  This idiom speaks to those that take on more than they can finish.  In reflection, this concept haunted me.  I would always take on more projects and many times could not see them to completion because there was too much on my plate.  A leader must show patience in what he /she believes.  It is easy when one does not experience immediate success, to move quickly to a new initiative.  In education, this is especially troubling because there always is a constant need and pressure to improve student test scores.  This type of improvement requires a long-term fix.  Ultimately, believe in what you are doing, stay focused, eliminate outside noises and be patient.  Success will follow.
