The dark side-What might Yoda say? (#2)
What is on Yoda’s mind?
Last week we started a series focusing on the dark side that is alive and well in every school or organization. I am glad to see that the piece was well received. Yoda has a lot on his mind. Let’s take a look at some of the things that are troubling him. In future weeks we will dig deeper into some of his thoughts.
Yoda’s thoughts:
1. A true Jedi, not everyone can be.
(Everyone can’t be a Jedi.)
2. Easy to follow the path to the dark side, hard to break away it can be, and harder as time goes on.
(Negativity is highly contagious.)
3. A dark side everyone has, even the best. Accept that, and easier to find the right path will be.
(Know your Darth Vader?)
4. Stronger together we are, weaker apart are we. In disunion darkness thrives. Watch closely anything which purposely separates us; that is the path to the dark side.
(The dark side divides and conquers.)
5. Always in front must the dark side be; no credit shared; no gratitude shown. Always taken alone is the path to the dark side.
(The dark side wants to lead.)
6. Pride, vanity, jealousy, resentment-these are paths to the dark side Humility, peacefulness, generosity, kindness the antidotes are.
(The dark side is full of personal jealousy and envy.)
7. Even the Jedi fall prey to darkness. Simple is it for one person to go down a dark path, and simple for others to follow.
(Individual migration to the dark side is systemic in nature.)
8. Only one way or another all roads lead; between darkness and light a middle road there is not. Joy leads to joy; kindness only leads to kindness. Hate only leads to hate, to darkness only darkness leads.
(Between the light and the dark, there is no middle ground)
9. Jealousy leads to resentment; resentment leads to hate. Pride leads to anger; anger leads to hate. Always to the same place the dark side leads.
(People on the dark side are full of anger and hatred.)
10. Always the same the dark side must be, never admitting mistakes. Always right it must be. To stay that way, lies must be told, blame assigned, anger stoked. But always defeated in the same way it can be. Learn from your errors, give credit to others, raise up those around you; that is the path to the light side.
(People on the dark side do not learn from their mistakes.)
May the Force continue to be with you.

Thank you for sharing this. It really resonated with me. I have always stated we all have a dark/light side, good/evil side whatever you want to call it. To me the road less traveled is the road to the light side. The more common one is the road to the dark side. It is easier and more traveled. We all need to work through our issues, anger, pain and resentment. A situation is never one person alone, it takes two. If we can think we are part of the problem to begin with, we can move to a resolution.
Thanks Kim. I appreciate your comment and thanks you for reading. I argue that everyone at one time is challenged to go to the dark side. What are those circumstances and how can some people fight off this challenge and others can’t. If one had a trusted colleague or mentor it could help prevent the migration to the dark side. Any thoughts or conversation on this topic would be appreciated.
