A Dark Side everyone has, even the best. Accept that, and easier to find the right path will be.

The world of Lando

Today, we continue our exploration of the dark side of your school.  And never forget, you do have that dark side.

Who would you rather have to deal with?  Jabba the Hut?  Darth Vader?   My guess is that your most difficult character that you will have to deal with is none other than Lando Calrissian.   They all are destructive influences in your life and at your school.  With both Jabba and Darth Vader, you get what you see.  But with Lando Calrissian he or she can be a wolf in sheep’s clothing.  He or she will appear to be your friend and you may think that he or she is on your side.  But let’s not kid ourselves, Lando is only on one person’s side:  his own.

Lando is a fun person to be around.  He or she tells the right joke.  Lando will shake the right hand and then will twist the knife right in your back while smiling at you.  Navigating the world of Lando is your real challenge.  You see, Lando will tell you anything that you want to hear.  He or she always has a remarkable way of making you feel good about yourself.

Yet, be cautious because in the midst of all of this outward perceived good will, and all of the hand shaking, there will be a great deal of back stabbing. He or she is a master manipulator. Lando knows how to work the system well enough to just about always get what he or she wants.  And if you try to get in his or her way, no matter how “right” you may be, Lando will just trample you.  He or she has done this to anyone that has tried to slow him or her down.   Everyone likes to be liked.  You may strive to be part of his or her inner circle. You may think that you are special, but let me assure you that you are not.  To Lando, you are just a means to and ends.

Don’t be fooled because your Lando will use whatever skill that is necessary to get what he or she wants, even if it means crushing you.  I have witnessed several of my wannabee Landos use their sexuality to advance his or her agenda.  Watching some of the flirting can make one sick. I do not think that he or she even knows how ridiculous he or she looks.  Upon further consideration, I think that he or she just does not care.  You see, no matter what, Lando sleeps well at night, and can easily look at him or herself in the mirror.

Before we move on from Lando and his friends, you should certainly know that Lando will never be blamed for anything.  Lando will make sure that all of the blame falls to you.  Your Lando will never seek to take a position of responsibility, for that would put him or her on the firing line.

Lando wants to be the puppeteer behind the scenes working the appropriate strings.  Lando is the string puller and will pull your strings every time that you allow it.

OK, I have to admit it.  Sometimes I was a bit slow to catch on and I allowed my Lando to pull my strings.  Shame on me.  Now I know better.  But it is too late for me.  And hopefully after reading this article it will not be too late for you. You will know better, if not, you will be the one easily falling over to the dark side.

You must at all costs resist this pull to the dark side.  Once you are there, it is hard to return to the light side of the Force.
